- Neopets History. Neopia's been around for quite some time, and it has quite the storied past. Relive some of the olden days by perusing through our history exhibits below. Did you know that on March 23, 2004, Sponge was announced as a Lab Ray only colour?
- R/neopets: r/neopets is the place to be without fear or scorn by TNT! Petpet lab ray gave me a petpet that looks like a cartoon sperm cell.
Petpets are small creatures that serve as pets for Neopets. They first appeared on the Neopets website on September 27, 2000. There are hundreds of different Petpet species in the world of Neopia. As explained in the Wand of Wishing game, Petpets come from an alternate dimension know as Petaria. In this dimension, Petpets are capable of speaking, wearing clothes, and walking upright.
If you are not totally 100 percent serious about getting a coolpetpet, then that would not be worth it to buy it. yes it is cheapless than 8k for the whole lab map, but you have to have access tothe neopet secret lab ray first. (meaning you have to buy everypiece of that map.) the whole secret lab map for neopets is awhooping 750k+. So unless you are willing to spend that much youshouldn't.. But the secret lab map both are pretty awesome, you canzap your neopet into cool colors and limited edition species samefor petpets.

Where do I access the Petpet Lab Ray?
To turn in your completed Petpet Laboratory Map, visit this page. If you'd like to zap your petpet, you can do so here. Unfortunately, you need to complete the Secret Laboratory Map set before you can get to the Petpet Lab. That means you need this map first.
What does the finished map look like?
The finished map looks the same as below. Once you have all of these pieces in your inventory, you can go to this page and turn them in.

How many zaps do I get?
You get unlimited zaps once you turn in your completed map! However, you are limited to only one zap per account per day. Some people choose to complete the Petpet Lab map on their side accounts. You can zap whatever petpet of yours you like with your daily zap.
What different names can the ray give to my petpet?
If your language is set to something other than English, you may end up with translated versions of the names listed below.

If the lab has renamed your petpet with a name not listed here, please let us know.
Are there any special colours or species that come only from the Petpet Lab Ray?
Yes. You can only get 8-Bit, Chocolate, Gold, Ice, Jelly, Picnic, and Strawberry coloured petpets from the ray. Species such as the Chiruck and the Graffle are also unique to the ray. You cannot purchase these petpets, because once removed from a pet, they revert back to their original species and colour. For a full listing, check out the Item Database.
Are there any colours or species that the Petpet Lab Ray won't change your petpet?
As of now, we don't think so. There are so many petpets and colours, it'd be difficult to tell if there were. It's confirmed that the ray can zap your petpet Birthday (although Birthday is not exclusive to the Petpet Lab Ray). Given that once you un-attach your zapped petpet, it reverts to its original state, we're thinking that the ray can do any colour and species.
What happens if I zap a petpet?
Well, for one, your zapped petpet is no longer eligible for the Petpet Protection League award. Also, below your petpet on your pet's lookup, it'll say that it has been zapped by the ray. (This indicator will be shown: )
OH EM GEE!!111 The ray just zapped my Slorg into a Moltenore!
Now don't get your undies in a bundle! Un-attaching your petpet will transform it back into its original form. So your Moltenore will revert back to a Slorg.
My Petpet is a Pile of Soot! What do I do?
You can keep zapping it. Piles of Soot have as much chance of changing species as any other kind of Petpet, as far as we know. You can also detach it, in which case it will turn back to its original species and colour.
I zapped my Petpet, and it disappeared. Can I get it back?
No, sorry. Nobody knows where vanished Petpets go, but we haven't found a way of getting them back, and we probably never will. You'll have to get a new Petpet and start over. Same for if you had a petpetpet attached, it's gone too.
Suppose my Abominable Snowball turns into a Slorg, and it's old enough for the avatar. Will I still get it?
Yes. You can get avatars from zapped petpets. However, you won't get the Slorg avatar when it's 100 days old if it's been zapped into something else.
My petpet turned into a cool species, but I don't like the colour. Can I paint it?
Sorry, no. Zapped Petpets are immune to Petpet Paint Brushes.
If I get a Krawk petpet from the ray, is it able to be turned into a Krawk pet?
Nope, sorry. :
Can the Turmaculus eat zapped petpets?
Yes, he does have an appetite for mutated petpets. :P
Hey look, I got an avatar!
